) ֶכּ ֶלב( Caleb comes from Hebrew and is thought to either be derived from the word kelev meaning "dog" (symbolising devotion) or comes from the elements kal (ָכּל ) meaning "whole" and lev (ֵלב ) meaning "heart". In Abrahamic faiths, Caleb was one of the spies sent by Moses into Canaan, the promised land. It was popularised as an English name following the Protestant Reformation and has remained in relatively common use, enjoying an increase in popularity following the early 2000s.
