Connor (sometimes spelt Conor) is an anglicised form of the Irish word Conchobhar, meaning "lover of wolves" or "lover of hounds," from the Old Irish cú - "hound, dog, wolf" and cobar - "desiring". The name is sometimes also translated to mean "hunter". Connor can be used either as a surname or given name. It reached peak popularity in the late 1990s and has been on the decline since then.
