Anna is the Greek and Latin form of the Hebrew name Channah (ַחנָּה ), meaning "favour" or "grace". It has been used in England alongside Ann and Anne since the Middle Ages. In modern times, its two peaks in popularity were in the 1970s and early 2000s; since then, it has been on the decline.
