Aurora is Latin for "dawn". It also refers to the Roman goddess of the morning. It was first used as a given name during the Renaissance, but remained relatively rare until the 21st century, when its popularity began sharply rising. It is currently still on the rise. In popular culture, the name was also used for the princess in Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty (1959).
