Leah comes from the Hebrew name Le’ah (ֵלאָה ), meaning "weary". In Judaism and Christianity, Leah was the first wife of the prophet Jacob. The name was more common amongst Jews during the Middle Ages, but was popularised as a Christian name following the Protestant Reformation. It reached its modern peak of popularity in the early 2000s and has been falling since.
